Dawit and Saba first crossed paths at an Eritrean community event in Calgary's Beltline neighbourhood — a cultural evening of tigrinya music, injera, and zigni. Saba was volunteering at the registration table; Dawit kept finding reasons to ask questions. After months of coffee dates at Café Rosso and long walks along the Bow River pathway, he proposed at Prince's Island Park at sunset, their favourite spot in the city.
